School of Education Professor Kenneth T. Henson this summer received one of the Text and Academic Authors Association’s highest recognitions - the Franklin Silverman Lifetime Achievement Award. "I am honored to have been recognized with such a prestigious award,” Henson said.

The Citadel will begin monthly testing of its emergency communications sirens, beginning at approximately noon on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008.

The Citadel has a new campus chief of police, and three other Public Safety officers have been promoted. William A. "Bill" Fletcher Jr., deputy director of Citadel Public Safety since 2000, replaces Mike Bingham, who retired in February after 14 years in the department.

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Robert Sberna of Summerville, S.C., has been named director of cadet activities at The Citadel.
